ABOUT ME

I am a licensed clinical social worker with over seven years of experience working with families, assisting them through parenthood, challenging child behaviors, life transitions, and mental health journeys. I received my Bachelor of Science in Psychology from the University of Illinois at Chicago and attended graduate school at Loyola University Chicago and Erikson Institute, earning my Master of Social Work and Master of Science in Child Development.

In my practice, I draw from a range of therapeutic approaches, including cognitive-behavioral therapy, mindfulness-based interventions, psychotherapy, and attachment-focused techniques. My goal is to provide a supportive and non-judgmental space for parents and couples to explore their own emotional experiences, identify and challenge unhelpful patterns of thinking, and learn new strategies for managing stress and anxiety. I place high importance on taking a global perspective throughout the therapy process, considering one's cultural beliefs and values, environmental factors, and mother/child attachment styles when collaboratively establishing goals.

I understand that therapy may seem daunting and making that first call is sometimes the hardest step. My goal is to provide individuals with a safe, comforting environment to build a trusting, therapeutic relationship.

FOCUS ON PARENTING SUPPORT FOR HEALTHY INFANT & CHILDHOOD DEVELOPMENT

I specialize in supporting parents who struggle with anxiety related to their role as a caregiver, as well as promoting healthy development for infants and young children. My additional areas of focus include working with individuals who experience generalized anxiety disorder, depression, obsessive-compulsive disorder, disruptive mood dysregulation disorder, and attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder.

As a therapist specializing in parent anxiety and infant mental health, I offer compassionate and effective support to parents struggling with the challenges of raising a child. My passion for this work began in graduate school, as I discovered how overwhelming it can be to navigate the many responsibilities and demands of raising a child. I quickly became interested in learning more about how parents can effectively manage their own anxieties and emotional responses, in order to create a more secure and nurturing environment for their children.

My work with parents to support healthy emotional development for infants and young children involves helping parents to better understand and respond to their child’s emotional cues and needs. I promote secure attachment relationships between parent and child. I also address some of the more concrete concerns that can lead to parents not coping well, such as issues related to sleep, feeding, and other early childhood challenges. My support of the parents is of utmost importance as healthy parents are the foundation of healthy families. I am confident that my previous work with mothers and my knowledge of mental health and child development will provide you with the support you are seeking.
