ABOUT ME

I am a certified perinatal mental health clinician and the founder of Nurture Therapy. I first opened the private practice in New York City prior to returning (home) to Chicago and relaunching Nurture Therapy here. I offer therapy services to individuals in the Chicago area and online therapy services to individuals in New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Tennessee, and Minnesota. I received my master's degree in social work from the University of Chicago. I have extensive training in cognitive, behavioral, interpersonal, and supportive therapies in both outpatient and inpatient clinical settings.

I believe that each person enters therapy with different life experiences and a unique story to tell. I utilize an integrative approach of traditional therapies, as well as evidenced-based treatment to ensure you receive the therapy that's best for you. We will work collaboratively to build a strong, healing relationship. This is one of the most important factors in predicting successful therapy outcomes. As a therapist, I provide a warm and non-judgmental environment for you to heal and grow.

Through our work, we will utilize varied strategies to ensure that you achieve your goals and develop a more balanced outlook on life. We're in this together!

FOCUS ON PERINATAL MOOD & ANXIETY DISORDERS

I have a great passion for and commitment to supporting women in their transition to motherhood. As a therapist who specializes in the treatment of Perinatal Mood and Anxiety Disorders, I work with women experiencing challenges across the entire reproductive life story, including infertility, miscarriage, pregnancy, parenting, depression, and anxiety. I draw on existing strengths and resilience while also providing new skills to aid in healing and recovery.

While parenthood is supposed to be a happy time in your life, it may not always feel this way. Along with the joy that accompanies pregnancy and the birth of a new baby, there are also stressful experiences that causes anxiety and pervasive feelings of incompetence and loneliness. I specialize in maternal mental health from mild parenting stress and worry to severe postpartum depression and anxiety. I will support you through this challenging time in your life and guide you in your quest to feel like yourself again.

I understand that conceiving, pregnancy, childbirth, and postpartum changes can make you feel out of control. I get that there is an urgency to retrieve your lost sense of self. I am with you that you are too tired, too distracted, and too overwhelmed with your new baby to think about yourself or your own mental health. Even asking for help may feel like too much. But I also know how important it is to get you back to feeling like yourself again and as quickly as possible. What you are experiencing is treatable. My greatest concern for mother’s out there is not that they will become depressed or anxious, but rather that they will stay depressed and anxious, believing that suffering is simply what motherhood is supposed to feel like. I have the experience and knowledge to help you navigate this inherently difficult time. Together, we will get you relief from your symptoms and get you feeling better.  Treatment is available and it works.

I offer a free 15-minute phone consultation to see how I can help you.
