ABOUT ME

I am a licensed counselor and graduate from Northwestern University’s Masters in Counseling Program. Originally from Birmingham, Alabama, I received my Bachelor’s in Psychology from the University of Alabama at Birmingham. As a former ballet dancer, I taught children’s dance classes for many years and enjoyed teaching barre fitness classes to adults. In 2016, my family and I moved to Chicago for my husband to complete his medical training. After relocating to the area, my family and I immersed ourselves in city life. It has been a lifelong dream of mine to become a therapist. I made a shift in careers to make this happen.

I have a profound appreciation for diversity, acceptance, and inclusion. I enter the field of counseling with a desire to provide a welcoming space for people to be authentically themselves. With an integrative approach to counseling, I use a range of healing modalities to promote emotional health, tailoring the session to meet the needs of the client. I recognize the connection between the body and the brain and hope to implement dance, movement, and art into some of my therapy practices.

AREAS OF FOCUS: PREGNANCY GRIEF & LOSS

I have personal experience in grief and loss and want to provide others with the delicate support that is needed to navigate such difficult life events. While facing my own family challenges, it was important to me to find support that could personally relate and was also educated in the field of psychology to guide me to find peace with an unexpected loss. This was the motivating force that urged me to continue my education and serve my community as a therapist.

I understand that one’s sense of grief does not shrink over time, but rather life grows bigger around such a loss. I do not expect my clients to forget about their grief and sadness, but instead, help them to integrate the loss into their life as a form of healing and coping. As a survivor, I know that this can happen within the safety, security, and respect of the therapeutic relationship. It is my hope that sessions will provide an opportunity to release shame and anger, while simultaneously feeling respected and heard. I bring in my own expertise, as well as the words and comfort that I wish I had heard.  Let’s heal together!

I offer a free 15-minute phone consultation to see how I can help you.
