ABOUT ME

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor. I received my Master’s Degree from Lewis University. My background is heavily rooted in individual and family crisis intervention. I believe in fostering a safe space with clients to develop a deeper understanding of self and individual experiences. This has been particularly important during my work with perinatal women.

Through my own personal passage to motherhood, I quickly realized that this journey is full of ups and downs. My experience has afforded me the opportunity to truly empathize with women as they take on their own unique motherhood journey. I am passionate about helping women navigate all of the uncertainties that can be associated with fertility, pregnancy, birth, birth trauma, postpartum health, and the transition to parenthood.

I utilize an evidence-based approach in therapy, coupled with an emphasis on collaboration. I believe that the foundation of effective therapy is the relationship formed between the therapist and the client. We can walk through your experiences together in order to discover a better understanding and healing along the way. I believe that each individual has her own set of strengths. My goal is to help you recognize and properly utilize these strengths in order to overcome challenges that come your way. I look forward to utilizing my knowledge to better equip you with coping skills that can be incorporated into your daily life.

PERINATAL SUPPORT AND SLEEP RESTORATION

While parenthood is supposed to be a happy time in your life, it may not always feel this way. For many women, motherhood is viewed as something that should come naturally, but this is not always the case. Along with the joy that accompanies pregnancy and the birth of a new baby, there may also be trauma and triggers associated with your birth, which creates pervasive feelings of loss and loneliness. 1in 3 women experience traumatic births; you are not alone. I specialize in maternal mental health from mild parenting stress and worry to severe postpartum depression, anxiety, and birth trauma, to infertility and miscarriage. I will support you through this challenging time in your life and guide you in your quest to feel like yourself again. I believe that the more support women can receive during their journey to motherhood, the more confidence they will feel as mothers. Confident and supported mothers raise children that will make the world a better place.

In addition to my specialization as a perinatal mental health clinician, I am also a Certified Pediatric Sleep Consultant. I have worked with parents all over the country to help them and their children acquire better sleep.

Only when infants and toddlers receive the proper amount of sleep, can their mental and physical health flourish. This sets the foundation for their development and emotional well-being. Children’s effective sleep extends to the entire family. Sleep disruption is correlated with postpartum mood disorders, which is why quality sleep is a cornerstone for improving mental health disorders. When a child is sleeping well then so are parents.

Personally, I prefer to use the term “sleep learning” simply because a child is learning the crucial life skill of sleep. I never take a “one size fits all” approach. Instead, I like to collaborate with families in order to find the best and most individualized sleep method for you and your child(ren). My goal is to educate and support parents throughout their child’s sleep transition. When everyone in the family is receiving adequate sleep, it is much easier to be the best possible version of yourself while navigating the daily grind of parenthood. We’re in this together!
