ABOUT ME

I am a licensed clinical social worker. I have been an advocate for over ten years of experience working with many populations in healthcare while practicing in the inpatient hospital systems. I bring my medical knowledge to my therapeutic work, giving me a greater understanding and insight into the medicalized process, which often accompanies pregnancy and birth. I have training in cognitive, behavioral, interpersonal, and supportive therapies in both outpatient and inpatient clinical settings.

I take a supportive and conversational approach to my clients’ therapy. I believe in partnering in the space. There will be expertise that I bring into the therapy space, given my knowledge and training, but, just as importantly, there is an expertise that my clients bring into the space as they are the experts on themselves. I honor this immediately through active and supportive listening, creating therapeutic goals, focusing on self-care, providing tools and seeing progress, and finally by using the client as a guide to dictate treatment and treatment outcomes.

THERAPEUTIC FOCUS: PERINATAL MOOD & ANXIETY DISORDERS

As a therapist who specializes in the treatment of Perinatal Mood and Anxiety Disorders, I work with women experiencing challenges in pregnancy and parenting; this can be mild pregnancy or parenting stress and worry to severe postpartum depression and anxiety, birth trauma, negative views of medical experiences, miscarriage and pregnancy loss. For women, the importance of support systems and awareness of our needs during and after pregnancy is vital.

My own path to motherhood has come with a lot of learning and growing experiences. I bring these experiences into my therapeutic work. What I have learned is that self-care is of great importance both physically and mentally. Here I offer a safe space to support and discuss steps for self-care and serve as a witness to your life and growth within that process.

I offer a free 15-minute phone consultation to see how I can help you.
