ABOUT ME
I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and received my Master’s of Social Work from Loyola University Chicago. My background is in medical social work and I bring this comprehensive view of health and mental health into my counseling practice. As a therapist, a woman, an individual who identifies as disabled, and a mom, I believe that the way we see ourselves and the way we want to be seen by others is of great significance when it comes to healing. In therapy, I focus on the individual and the individual’s self-identified needs. My approach is inclusive to address every client’s need, ability, life circumstances, and unique journey of healing. By creating an environment where clients feel seen and heard, I help individuals through life’s greatest challenges, moments of crisis, and daily obstacles that we encounter both in life and as parents.
NAVIGATING HIGH-RISK/ COMPLICATED PREGNANCY AND PARENTING
My previous experience includes working as a medical social worker in both the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit and a variety of pediatric outpatient and inpatient settings. It was during my time spent in the NICU that I was introduced to the world of perinatal mental health—I quickly learned how important and unique this time is.
Your journey to starting a family may include unexpected emotions and experiences. Sometimes the path to parenthood can be medically complicated. My own personal experience as a mother has also guided and informed my practice. Deriving from this, I create a safe and trusting space for clients and their partners as they experience expansive love and joy to challenges, losses, and fears that can accompany parenting. I recognize both the beauty and the challenge in the reproductive journey, birthing process, and parenthood.
